Book Review: Man's Search for Meaning
This exceptionally phenomenal book by the late psychiatrist and holocaust survivor Viktor E. Frankl is one of the MOST inspirational and life-transforming reads I've come across to date.
A story of undeterred hope in spite of harrowing experiences.
A story of spiritual inner freedom in spite of extreme captivity /slavery.
A story of recognizing that you always have a choice in any given situation.
A story of finding impeccable strength to find meaning in life in spite of excruciating pain and suffering.
A story that would remind you to be grateful and mentally tough when the road gets tough.
The quote that struck me most was: "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude..." Frankl still found a positive spin amid one of the world's darkest times.
Nietzsche quotes, "If we have our own WHY in life, we shall get along with almost any HOW." Frankl shows us how true that can be with both this book and his life. It's pretty overwhelming with the way Frankl puts such profound meaning into seemingly small tasks.
It's an incredible read that helps you understand - you can still be HUMAN, even in a gruesome environment. Humanity is a choice!
Reader or non-reader, everyone must read this book!
Today, being the Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember and honor all those who were unjustly murdered during the Holocaust and those who survived and told the world their stories of what can happen when discrimination, racism, and hatred go unchallenged. Although we are more progressive and evolved at this current age to understand the importance of standing in solidarity against any form of racism and antisemitism, we still have a long way to go.
Let's remind ourselves to be kind and look out for each other, at the least 🕊️
